Beschreibung

The name of Victor Hadwiger is not unknown in German literature. He is often mentioned alongside Paul Leppin and Oskar Wiener in lists of representatives of the Jung-Prag group, and his connections with the author of the famous novel Golem, Gustav Meyrink, as well as with other German-speaking authors associated with Prague, are recalled. Hadwiger is also considered a pioneer of expressionism in German literature. His name is therefore not forgotten, but a significant part of his small body of work, especially his lyrics, has been. There are several reasons for this, including the poet's early death (he was not yet 33) and the fact that he was not meticulous in preserving his manuscripts. Hadwiger was already compared to Rilke in his time, yet his work has not been fully appreciated to this day. This is the first Czech translation of the work. The mirrored Czech-German edition is accompanied by a preface and notes in both languages, and the book is supplemented with illustrations. Translated from the German originals by Miloš Kučera. Selected, with a preface and comments on the poems written by Viera Glosíková. Typography by Zdeněk Ziegler.
