Let us introduce ourselves
My name is Martin Válek.
In 2011, I founded CzechMovie. I was the one who shipped our very first film – My Sweet Little Village – to the United States. Since then, I’ve been behind every order, communicating with you, solving your needs, wishes, and feedback. I make sure everything runs smoothly so that Czech products reach you quickly and in perfect condition.
And I’m Petra.
I joined Martin later and started expanding our product range. I’m the one who adds new items, searches for suppliers, writes articles, and connects Czech cinematography with fond memories. I love Czech films and Czech brands, and I put all my passion into making sure you get only the best and highest quality.
Our Story – step by step
April 2011
The beginning of the business
While studying at university, I often thought about how to bring Czech cinematography closer to people abroad. Out of this idea, CzechMovie was born. Our very first order is unforgettable – the iconic My Sweet Little Village (Vesničko má středisková) shipped all the way to the USA through eBay.
November 2012
Launch of our first official website
As it became clear there was strong interest in Czech films, we created our first official website. Many of you may still remember those early days of our online store.
July 2015
The team doubled
Petra joined the business, bringing her passion for Czech and Slovak cinematography. She expanded our portfolio and introduced our very first newsletter communication with customers.
October 2016
Started selling through Shopify
To make shopping easier and payments smoother, we switched to the user-friendly Shopify platform. At the same time, we launched our second website – Bohemian Beauty Care (today known as Fabled Look), offering the very best Czech cosmetics from brands such as Dermacol, Ryor, Alpa, and Indulona.
January 2017
Partnership with Tescoma
Thanks to customer feedback and a surge in demand during Christmas for baking molds, we partnered with Tescoma – a Czech kitchenware brand known worldwide, yet proudly based in Zlín, Czech Republic.
November 2017
Partnership with Koh-i-noor
This collaboration came almost by chance. Several customers requested the famous Magic pencils, which were sold out everywhere abroad but still available in the Czech Republic. We were able to supply them through Amazon, where they remain popular to this day.
December 2017
Establishment of Czech Goods s.r.o.
A very important year for us – our small family business officially became Czech Goods s.r.o.. To make it even more special, our first son was born that same year.
July 2018
Moving into new offices
As our family and business grew, our living room could no longer handle it all. We moved into our first real office space, giving us more room to pack and ship orders.
September 2019
Expanding with Czech toys
With the arrival of our daughter, we were inspired to bring Czech bedtime stories to life. We partnered with MU Brno, adding toys like Little Mole (Krteček), Bob and Bobek, Spejbl and Hurvínek, Rákosníček, and Křemílek and Vochomůrka to our offer – beloved characters that spark nostalgia worldwide.
July 2020
Partnership with DHL Express
As orders grew, we wanted faster delivery for our customers. Our partnership with DHL Express made this possible. With quicker shipping in place, we also introduced typical Czech snacks through our special Food Boxes.
February 2022
Partnership with RAPA
As our children grew, so did our curiosity for high-quality Czech toys. We partnered with RAPA, bringing beautifully made plush animals, trams, and other unique Czech products to our customers.
March 2025
Launch of Czechia Food
Responding to increasing demand for Czech cuisine, we launched our new e-shop Czechia Food, offering an even wider and more diverse range of Czech food and beverages.
June 2025
Moving into larger premises
By this time, we had outgrown our office again. We moved from Ostrava-Poruba to a spacious new facility in Polanka, giving us room to expand and improve our service.
September 2025
New couriers FedEx and PPL
Global customs challenges led us to seek additional fast and affordable shipping options. Partnering with FedEx and PPL allowed us to deliver even more reliably across Europe and beyond.
