Who knows where Henry's life would have taken him if the Delaneys had not taken him in as a teenage boy and accepted him as their own? Partly to banish the shadows of an unhappy past, Henry decides to follow in his father Wynne's footsteps. However, he soon realizes that balancing service to his country in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police with the call of his heart, which arose after meeting a young widow and her son, is not entirely easy. Meanwhile, Henry's sister Christine has also flown the nest, moved to the city, and found a job as a secretary. Although she and the son of a wealthy employer have developed an attraction, Boyd does not share her deep faith in God, and Christine still has doubts just before the wedding.
