Beschreibung
Bubeneč and Dejvice are relatively quiet districts of Prague until a drinking water accident occurs. Then strange things begin to happen: May doesn't end and June doesn't arrive, a silver line appears on the previously invisible border between the two districts that cannot be removed, water doesn't flow, and hostility rises. The events involve the Club of Friends of Old Dejvice, a trio of Bubeneč friends with names pronounced backwards, an architect searching for an underground city, and his girlfriend from the Riviera passage. Professor Hlístek humorously comments on the radio, while the elderly Mrs. Rukavičková closely observes everything with her dog Boxík. What is happening underground? Where is the water? And which water is it, anyway? And whose water is this?
A. Gravensteen, after his debut from polar regions and parallel worlds titled Ice Movements, takes readers to a similarly exotic territory of Prague 6. This multilayered novel will especially delight readers with a penchant for polished style and literary mischief.
