Vlastivěda 5 – Poznáváme svět kolem nás – Jsme občané, učebnice (2025)

The textbook is part of the series Understanding in Context. It is divided into three main sections: We are citizens of the Czech Republic, We are residents of the European Union, and We are residents of the world. In the section We are citizens of the Czech Republic, students will expand their knowledge about the governance of our state, elections, and the importance of the state for its inhabitants, e.g., in state defense or crisis resolution. They will learn about the rights and responsibilities we have as citizens and the essence of civil society. A separate part will be dedicated to media education and critical thinking. The section We are residents of the European Union will introduce students to the significance of EU membership and the governance of the EU, the diversity of its inhabitants, traditions, and natural conditions, with special attention given to countries neighboring the Czech Republic. The final section We are residents of the world will lead students to an awareness of belonging to people from all over the world, introduce them to global issues, and the involvement of the Czech Republic in international organizations.
