Beschreibung
Richard Brautigan was a literary idol of the underground of the 1960s, his comic genius and iconoclastic visions of the American way of life have permanently etched themselves into the worldview of the emerging hippie generation. "The Last of the Beats" published eleven novels, a collection of short stories, and ten collections of poetry. The author matured during the hippie communes in San Francisco's Haight Ashbury, with the era's ideals and the phenomenon of counterculture accompanying the rise of his fame and his fall in the following years. At the age of forty-nine, he committed suicide. A collected edition of his poetry, including previously unpublished poems, has only been released in France so far. Our bilingual Czech-English anthology draws from it. Richard Brautigan: "God, the crap they'll write about me when I die!"
