The monograph deals with the works of female authors in the context of the Lebanese Civil War. It analyzes the works of two of the most prominent representatives of the war novel in Lebanon, whose main protagonists are women. The first chapter introduces readers to the cultural, social, and literary background of the examined period, while the next two chapters focus on the presentation of individual novels. The actual analysis then concentrates on the processes of self-formation. The chapter dealing with the novel Zahra's Story (?ikajat Zahra) looks at the process of self-formation from the perspective of submission to power. In the work Marjam's Stories (Marjam al-?akaja), the phenomenon of power is examined from the perspective of female narration, which represents a traditional tool for disrupting patriarchal discourse. The key chapters are supplemented with translated excerpts from works that have not yet been translated into Slovak or Czech.
