The lyrical opuses of Karel Kopp and Karel Kubeška were created in the late 1970s and early 1980s. The selection of poems, enriched by a generously conceived authorial commentary divided into thirteen chapters, uniquely illustrates the period of so-called normalization in communist Czechoslovakia. Their own distinctive poetry helped both Karles cope with the complicated times full of conformism, fears for the future, and the futile search for the meaning of life amidst the grayness and the moral malaise of the nomenklatura.
