The year 1968 is considered one of the most tragic in our modern history. At the same time, it is also one of the most amazing. This interesting contradiction caught the attention of writer Pavel Hénik, among others the author of the bestseller Václav Neckář – The Madly Joyful Prince.

In the book, the author examines the year 1968 through this dual lens and takes readers on a journey of hope and joy, but also disappointment and helplessness. He draws on contemporary magazines and newspapers, of which he has collected several hundred, and maps important themes that moved society at the time in an unconventional journalistic manner. At the same time, he spoke with ten personalities who lived their dream of a freer society in 1968.
