Beschreibung
In Steventon, Hampshire, the year is 1795, and the sharp-witted daughter of the local vicar, Jane, longs for just one thing: to write. With ink-stained hands, she wakes up night after night, trying to carve her way into the world of her heroines, Elinor and Marianne Dashwood. Unfortunately, she is unsuccessful. She sees the heroines only as if through a fog and feels that something separates her from them – an invisible wall stands in her way. Moreover, her sister Cass is soon to be married, and Jane suspects that if she follows in their mother's footsteps, a similar fate will soon befall her as well. The young gentlemen of the village, however, are completely indifferent to Jane; at best, they serve as acceptable dance partners at the balls she loves so much. But will everything change with the arrival of the neighbor's nephew, the well-read Mr. Tom Lefroy? And will Jane finally find her way to her beloved heroines? Yet Jane's heart must endure disappointment time and again, and along with her family, she must cope with various blows of fate. All the while, Jane tirelessly attempts to realize her greatest dream: to publish a novel.
