Beschreibung
Ikarus buses are not just the legendary "blue" intercity or "red" city buses, which the public affectionately nicknamed "čabajka" or "harmonika," but also other types that have been traveling on Czech and Slovak roads and in cities since the 1950s. At that time, small Ikarus 30 buses began to be exported to Czechoslovakia, as Czech or Slovak companies did not produce similar vehicles. The 1960s were marked by one- and two-door types Ikarus 620 and 630 – these were seen in almost every city and region. In the 1970s, articulated buses of the 280 series began to be imported in large numbers, which became essential means of transport for many cities and regions. There are also specialties: cooperative Czech-Hungarian Avia-Ikarus minibuses or low-floor buses of the 400 series, which started being imported in the 1990s. The book also features a wealth of unique, previously unpublished photographs of buses from all model groups of the Hungarian manufacturer Ikarus that appeared in regular or irregular public transport on domestic roads.
