It is the year 1951, and the Jewish Neuman family moves to the Prague district of Josefov. The main character, five-year-old Samuel Neuman, discovers the streets, courtyards, and corners of Josefov, where ordinary yet dramatic stories of neighbors and the Neuman family unfold, influenced by events that shook Czechoslovakia in the 1950s and 1960s. Here and there, Oskar Neuman takes his sons on educational trips to show them the beauties of the Czech land, but also the strange state wrapped in barbed wire. Despite the terrible things history has brought and continues to bring, Samuel, his brother, and father do not lose their faith...
