Kompendium německé literatury českých zemích – Becher Peter (2022)

The German original of the book was published in 2017 in the prestigious series "handbooks" by the Metzler publishing house and is a representative collective work of contemporary Czech and foreign German studies dealing with German-language literature from the Czech lands. The publication is the most significant crystallization point and the richest material realization of a new approach to this literature, which rejects the established division between the humanistic and aesthetically high-quality "Prague" German literature on one side and the conservative-national, inferior "Sudeten" literature on the other. This simplified notion has deeper historical roots but has almost hegemonically established itself since the so-called Liblice conferences in the 1960s. Instead, the compendium aims for a conceptual capture and description of the processes of cultural and literary exchange in the shared space of the Czech lands. Alongside space, the key concept of the book is interculturality as a challenge to understand various models of being together, against each other, within each other, and alongside each other, which were applied in this literature and its institutions.
