A ballet inspired by the fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen "Far out in the sea at the very bottom, where no anchor can reach and no human eye can see, live the inhabitants of the sea. Dolphins, mermaids, the sea king, his old mother, and his daughter, the little mermaid. Her skin is pure and soft like a petal of a rose, her eyes blue like the deepest sea, and nothing brings her as much joy as hearing about the human world far above. When she stands by the open window in the evening and gazes up through the dark blue water, she thinks of the great city with all its noise and clamor. No one else longs for that world as much as she does." Thus begins the story of a true love of a mermaid for a land prince, for whom she sacrifices the most precious thing – her voice and her life.
