Synopsis
In this comedy about the joys and challenges of a rural papermaker, Cyril Puticka is coaxed by his adult children into selling his business to join them in Prague. Despite his agreement, he finds difficulty adapting to a life of leisure in the city. Bored, he soon seeks employment at a newly opened paper shop run by a young widow, Jarmila Valentova. Puticka not only invigorates the struggling business but also rekindles the owner's passion for life. Directed by Vladimír Slavínský during the Protectorate era, the film stars Vlasta Burian, known for his engaging and slightly subdued performance, alongside Zita Kabátová and others, highlighting the ups and downs of small business ownership with a blend of humor and heart.
