Synopsis
The Czech film 'Romance pro křídlovku', based on František Hrubín's work, explores the eternal themes of love, life, and death. The story, recounted by Hrubín during a trip to Florence, echoes his childhood experiences in Lešany. It's a tale where Love and Death play a pivotal role in the fates of student Vojta and Terina, a young girl from the carousel, whom Vojta falls deeply in love with. A sudden death alters their plans of eloping 'somewhere', and the plot thickens with the arrival of former romantic rivals - a student turned school director and carousel operator Viktor, both linked to Terina. Inspired by Hrubín's friends, this poignant narrative became a literary and filmic success, translated into film language by director Otakar Vávra. The movie, starring Jaromír Hanzlík, Zuzana Cigánová, and Štefan Kvietik, garnered acclaim at various film festivals, reflecting the depth and resonance of its romantic story about love, life, and the inescapable presence of death.
