Synopsis
What can happen at a wedding, or Good people cannot do bad things... The story of the feature film by screenwriter and director Vladimír Drha is set in the post-war period of the late 1940s, but the specific time frame is not as important, as the filmmakers focus on the purely private world of the characters. All the events are framed within a single Saturday afternoon and evening when a wedding takes place in a five-apartment building in Vysočany. The well-written story is an adult man's reflection on moments from his childhood. It is a view full of gentle nostalgia and humor. The small individual fates within this enclosed microcosm are perceived in the broader context of the meaning of human existence, thanks to the identification with the main character. The film returns to the theme of family roots and ties, long-lost neighborhood community, passions and feelings that no longer pulse, and identification with our past, where one world disappeared over decades, and another began to form, with the reflections of both still accompanying us today.
