Kat Mydlar DVD

Synopsis
Jan Mydlář, a legendary executioner, was born in the royal city of Chrudim. He left his studies in Prague to later become the city's executioner out of love, a job both despised and lucrative. Serving during the Rudolfine era, he witnessed an influx of scientists, artists, charlatans, and frauds in Prague. Mydlář's fate intertwined with a national trauma, especially after the execution of 27 nobles and citizens on June 21, 1621, a task he was appointed to perform. This unprecedented event made his name known across Europe, with "authentic" swords bearing the names of the executed or Mydlář's monogram being sold in markets. A paradoxical figure, Mydlář, a Protestant, found himself executing a grim act that celebrated the victor's triumph. His story, steeped in myths and prejudices, forms a dramatic and theatrically intriguing chapter of Czech history. Our adaptation doesn't strictly adhere to historical facts but instead weaves a colorful, albeit fictional narrative, blending real and imagined characters, focusing on Mydlář's personal life, encounters, and loves within the realms of possible or perceived reality.
