Description
Eduard Malota's book "I Saw Baťa Grow" offers a unique perspective on this entrepreneurial phenomenon. Eduard Malota was a citizen of the city of Zlín, a friend and collaborator of Tomáš Baťa, but at one point also a competitor of the Baťa company. Of all the roles mentioned, he had a unique opportunity to observe the development of the Baťa company – its growth and overcoming the hardships of the time during World War I, in times of economic and social crises. The author made every effort to remain impartial. His endeavor is admirable, considering that he could later perceive the Baťa company as the main reason for his own entrepreneurial failure and ultimately bankruptcy. The manuscript was completed in 1939. The author did not feel the need to ingratiate himself with Tomáš Baťa (1876-1932) or the Baťa company. It is purely his personal confession of how, after several years, he evaluated the events that unfolded right before his eyes and of which he was an integral part.
