Description

In the years following the Velvet Revolution, Jirka decides to take a risk and heads across the ocean to the USA, just like thousands of other young people from post-communist Central European countries. Jiří, Zdenek, Aneta, Karel, Jarda, Pavel, and Katerina try to adapt to their new environment. They must cope with the language barrier, a different way of life and values, and the fact that they are left to fend for themselves. Few of them want to stay here forever, but a few months turn into a year, one year into five, ten... Erika finds herself among them almost by chance; she wants to try living differently and elsewhere, as her personal life is falling apart. She is educated, sensitive, and romantic, while the behavior and actions of many economic immigrants are superficial and pragmatic. Karel loves her, Jirka works hard, just like Zdenek, Jarda cheats, Jitka is stingy, Aneta and Katerina have fun... Each of them has their own life purpose and goal, but they are united by a desire for a better life. Who among them will ultimately realize their American dream?
