Description

Reprint of the book published in 1922. Foreword by Rabbi S. Arje of the Smíchov Jewish community, dealing with Hasidism and the tradition of Kabbalah. The Hebrew word Kabbalah means tradition (handing down). As an oral tradition passed from mouth to mouth and transmitted from father to son, Kabbalah is described by Rabbi Maimonides in his introduction to the Mishnah. He states that Moses received from the Lord, in addition to the written tablets of the law, an unwritten, oral interpretation, which he passed on to his brother Aaron, his sons Eleazar and Ithamar, and the seventy elders of Israel. Thus, alongside the written law (the books of Moses), the oral law (Kabbalah) also arose. Kabbalah must truly be studied, diligently studied according to the old Rosicrucian motto: Read, read again, pray, and work. If one can speak in any field of occultism about laborious and prolonged work associated with the study of a great number of auxiliary books, where it is necessary to elevate the mind through prayer and open the gates of intuition through both external and internal calm of a contemplative life, then it is perhaps only Kabbalah.
