Australian crime novelist Freddie Kincaid arrives in America thanks to a generous scholarship. Now she sits helplessly in the Boston Public Library over a blank page, desperately searching for inspiration. So she starts observing the other visitors. She is particularly intrigued by three people – an exceptionally handsome man who is also constantly writing something (another writer, perhaps?), a young man she suspects is a law student, and a tattooed girl, clearly in love with the presumed lawyer, whom Freddie nicknames Miss Freud.
