The prose primarily tells the story of a young man's search and struggles as he arrives in Prague in the mid-1980s to study at a technical university, but is an artist at heart. In Prague, the main character forms a rock band, but he is also interested in many other aspects of the cultural and spiritual happenings of that time. Gradually, the hero finds himself in increasingly greater problems, especially personal ones. After the societal upheaval in 1989, the main character's situation worsens; he cannot orient himself in the new era. Eventually, the main character is diagnosed with schizophrenia and dies at the age of thirty. The prose captures, in a specific way, through the perception of the book's main character, the situation in Czech society and its transformation during the pivotal years, depicting this time through a unique, individual story that is, in a way, characteristic, as we know the young hero arriving in the big city with many ideals and completely destroyed by the end of the story from the works of various authors of the past.
