So I wrote a book. For years I thought about doing it, and I even received a few dubious offers. ('It's a piece of cake! Just do four hours of interviews, find someone to write it for you, put your face on the cover, and that's it!') I decided to write my stories the way I've always done – by hand. They are like a song I've recorded, and I can't wait to share it with the world, or like reading a primitive diary entry from a dirty notebook. Or even listening to my own voice echoing off the Kiss posters in my room during childhood. It certainly doesn't mean I'm done working, but it gives me a chance to shed some light on what it's like to be a boy from Springfield, Virginia, walking through life while fulfilling everything I dreamed of as a young musician. I'll tell you how at eighteen I went on tour with the band Scream, played with Nirvana and Foo Fighters, jammed with Iggy Pop, or performed at the Oscars. I danced with AC/DC and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, drummed for Tom Petty, and met Sir Paul McCartney. I told bedtime stories with Joan Jett, and once I even accidentally met Little Richard.
