In some crimes, catching the perpetrator can take several years; sometimes, perpetrators may even remain unpunished despite the crime being solved. Due to the statute of limitations, murderers can often breathe a sigh of relief after years and stop looking over their shoulders. The organization Nepromlčíme highlights such cases and presents them to the public through short documentaries, articles, and now this publication. In it, you will find, among other things, the story of young women who were brutally murdered and had their organs removed, Honzík, who went out to play with a friend but never arrived, or a beloved teacher who was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time. Some cases from abroad give us hope that even after many years, perpetrators can be found. According to psychiatrist Cyril Höschl, catching the culprit has, among other functions in society, a therapeutic effect on the victims and the bereaved. It shows them that justice can be achieved.
