Description
The territory of Svitavy and Moravská Třebová, incorporated into the German Reich in October 1938, was not a place providing a base for the activities of partisan units. This is evidenced by the fates of the Soviet paratroopers Komenský and Ján Majer-Spartakus, who were dropped in Svitavy in the last year of the war. The local German population actively participated in the pursuit, elimination, and capture of the paratroopers by the Nazi security apparatus. Death in the enemy's rear also claimed war prisoners and people abducted here from territories occupied by Nazi Germany, who were forced into slave labor in factories, agriculture, and other sectors.
