Description
This volume follows the first part of The Medicine of the Ancient Egyptians, dedicated to surgery, women's and children's medicine. Now the authors focus on internal medicine. The book contains the first Czech translations of ancient Egyptian texts related to internal medicine, as well as their detailed medical commentary. The texts include a number of cases focused on the treatment of various body parts from the head to the organs of the chest and abdomen, down to the limbs. In some cases, only dietary recommendations are recorded for treatment, while in others, the cases include instructions for preparing a medicinal mixture from herbal, animal, and mineral substances. Ancient Egyptian mummies can only be utilized to a limited extent for the study of internal medicine. However, the authors have also included findings from the latest research in this area in their publication. The book is intended for all lovers of ancient Egypt and also for those interested in studying the history of medicine.
