Description
What happens during those few seconds when the heart stops? Lieutenant Jasmin Pascal-Anderson of the Swedish army is severely injured during a NATO mission in northern Kosovo. Before she wakes up from anesthesia in the hospital, her heart stops for one minute and forty seconds. Upon awakening, she describes a mysterious port city that represents a transition between life and death, where a cruel and unjust system prevails. The experiences of clinical death traumatize Jasmin so much that she leaves the army, returns to Sweden, where she heals from post-traumatic stress disorder and tries to lead a peaceful life. However, that is turned upside down by a traffic accident – and Jasmin's son must undergo surgery during which, according to doctors, it is necessary to stop his heart for a moment. Jasmin cannot risk anything. She knows that her son will not return from the 'other side' on his own. The cruel port city full of violence is dangerous.
