Synopsis
In 1940, during World War II, the first transport of deported prisoners arrives at the newly established Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz. Among them is Tadeusz "Teddy" Pietrzykowski, a former boxing champion from Warsaw. The guards force him to fight in the ring for his own life and the lives of his fellow prisoners. With each victory, the prisoners' belief that the Nazis are not invincible grows stronger. However, the Auschwitz guards notice the increasing resistance and defiance among the prisoners. Confrontation with the camp administration and those in charge becomes inevitable. This biographical drama, directed by Maciej Barczewski and based on true events, tells the story of one of the first inmates of Auschwitz-Birkenau, prisoner number 77.
