Synopsis
Mervyn LeRoy’s historical drama is set in ancient Rome under the rule of Emperor Nero, played by Peter Ustinov. Robert Taylor portrays a Roman legion commander whose love for a Christian slave, played by Deborah Kerr, crosses the divide between the Roman Empire and the growing Christian faith. The film depicts Nero’s tyranny, burning Rome and the persecution of Christians in the Colosseum.
