Barfuß / Po strnisti bos

This is a movie told from the perspective of a young boy whose family had to move from an apartment in the big city to living with family in the country. Thus, the title; since in the city, you wear shoes, but in the country all the kids go barefoot.

The story takes place during the German occupation of the second world war, but from the boy's perspective, the occupation just provides a backdrop for meeting new friends, fitting in, and understanding one's roots.

This film does not have a lot of excitement, but neither is it boring. The characters are sometimes unusual and hold one's interest, especially as the boy's understanding of the people around him becomes more complete. There are times when the view shifts from the reality to how the boy imagines it, which is a hoot. Also, the film is beautifully shot. If the subject elements interest you, then I definitely recommend it.
