This music score and set of parts contains eight fanfares for the classical combination of two trumpets, two trombones and timpani. The score uses the original keys for trumpets in C, while the individual instrumental parts are provided in three versions according to the available range and type of trumpet: trumpets in C in the original keys, trumpets in B-flat in lower keys, and trumpets in A or G piccolo trumpets in higher keys. These versions are designed to make the best use of the trumpets’ powerful, brilliant sound in the registers most characteristic of each instrument. The fanfares are arranged largely chronologically according to the period in which they were composed rather than by difficulty. All instrumental parts should be accessible to music-school students, as this was taken into account from the outset.
