There are books that age in a year, and others that perhaps never do. The work titled On the Nature of Prejudice certainly belongs to the latter. This is evidenced, among other things, by the fact that it has been published in more than twenty-five editions in the United States and has sold over half a million copies. This text is still recognized today as a work on discrimination and, besides the United States, is used as recommended reading for social science students at universities in Germany, Italy, Poland, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic.

The book on prejudice was first published in 1954 (the latest edition was in 2021). It was intended for students of psychology, social psychology, and anthropology, as well as for the general public. It is written in an understandable manner and contains many clear examples. The author addresses fundamental questions – the definition of prejudice, the possibilities of its objective assessment, etc. However, he primarily focuses on what is innate to us and the role that upbringing, culture, personal experiences, and their interpretations play. He examines all aspects of this ancient problem and all kinds of prejudice – racial, religious, ethnic, economic, as well as sexual – and offers recommendations on how to mitigate the destructive consequences of discrimination.
