Scaredy Cat represents the author's personal quest for the causes of fear and phobias, narrated in a poetic, visually distinctive style. Dreamily surreal passages reflect the author's own demons in a sensitive yet entertaining manner. The existentially significant theme of neurosis, anxiety, and fear is captured by the book with surprising lightness and graphically captivating clarity. Nando von Arb was born in 1992 in Zurich, Switzerland. He studied narrative illustration at the School of Art and Design in Lucerne and fine arts in the field of illustration at the LUCA School of Arts in Ghent. His first graphic novel, Drei Väter (Three Fathers), was published in early 2019 by Edition Moderne in Zurich. He lives and works in his hometown of Zurich as a freelance illustrator and comic author. His second graphic novel, Fürchten lernen (Scaredy Cat), was published in 2023 by Edition Moderne in Zurich and won the Max und Moritz Preis 2024.
