In a usually peaceful village, the mutilated body of beekeeper Bedřich Bláha is discovered. The investigation reveals that he shot himself with his own weapon after being diagnosed with cancer, making the case appear to be an obvious suicide. However, the discovery of a letter sent to Bláha by a mentally disturbed person, together with evidence that someone had been watching him before his death, leads investigators Hana Vítková and David Winkler to question whether he really ended his life voluntarily. They also learn that he was not the only seriously ill person to decide to take their own life under suspicious circumstances. Are they dealing with an angel of death, or is there something entirely different behind these suspicious suicides? This Czech-language crime novel is full of tension and unexpected twists, revealing that nothing is as it first appears.
