Do výšky modra plyneš – Romanská Lydie (2024)

The selection from the poetic works of Lydia Romanská presents verses from most of the author's collections, of which she has written around twenty, from the title 'Půl hodiny po lásce' (1982) to her most recent book titled 'Zpovídat se z poezie' (2023). As a poetess, she established herself with a gift for developed, uniquely conceived metaphors, intimate feminine themes embedded in the cycles of life and nature. She is able to transform her life’s vicissitudes and often very difficult situations into a confession of humanity, love, and the celebration of life. The certainty she finds in the space of home is miniaturized into the details of the everyday objects in her apartment ('Káva pro H.', 2018), but also projected into the space of the region, familiar places intertwined with memories and woven with the language and stories of her ancestors ('Poločas', 1989). This rootedness, however, is not constraining; rather, it inspires expansion into the most broadly conceived space of intense human sensitivity, emotion, and humility ('Den latimerie', 2002). She is a devotee of pure poetry according to Henri Bremond, to whom she aligned herself in the years 2016–2018 with three collections of verses. She has shifted from an all-encompassing depiction of the known world to new realities in the space of free imagination.
