Beschreibung
In May 2024, it will have been fifty years since the death of Jan Libíček, a native of Zlín, an outstanding actor, and a kind person. His life was extinguished at the young age of forty-two under Prague's Vyšehrad while filming the well-known movie How to Drown Doctor Mráček or The End of Watermen in Bohemia. This remarkable film and theater artist died very symbolically while working. He loved his profession and left a significant mark in it. At first glance, Jan Libíček was a good-hearted chubby man with shy eyes and a gentle smile, but his personality also concealed a peculiar sadness of an ordinary, thoughtful person. The actor's inner self remained undisclosed throughout his life. Fortunately, Libíček's art is preserved to this day and can still bring us joy from time to time. And yet, it can only be somewhat sadly stated that dramatic artists of this type are no longer available today. There is no substitute for the hearty native of Wallachia. That is the plain truth. Therefore, we can only thank God for the fact that Jan Libíček was here and still is.
