In November 2024, a reprint of the second Czech edition of the famous book Lame Deer: Seeker of Visions will be released. The book, which was created in the first half of the 1970s as a record of the storytelling of the Sioux medicine man Lame Deer, is published by Nakladatelství květy života in an updated translation by Josef Porsche and with new color illustrations by Czech painter Oglé Yámni Lukáš Junek. The still relevant and inspiring storytelling of the Sioux medicine man, recorded by journalist and co-author Richard Erdoes, is full of natural wisdom and humanity, which means that the reader sometimes laughs, marvels, learns interesting things about the lives of Native Americans, their rituals, and also experiences moments of gratitude, regret, and anger. Lame Deer grew up in a Native American reservation in South Dakota, went through a boarding school designed to re-educate Native American children, and later engaged in many professions. He worked as a member of the tribal police in the reservation, stole cars, smuggled alcohol, made a living painting advertisements, spent over a year in prison, and landed as an American soldier in Normandy.
