Beschreibung
Annotation: The publication summarizes the long-term research and exhibition project SJCH titled Not Just a Nuclear Family (2020-2023), which took the form of four international group exhibitions and several extensive artistic projects. The book visually and textually documents these outputs (including a catalog overview of works) and also contains a number of original texts – essays, reflections, or reports – from four members of the SJCH curatorial collective and four guest contributors. The curators explored the theme of family in the context of gender, utopia, upbringing, and architecture; additionally, a passage from the book Abolish the Family! by British writer Sophie Lewis is included, American lawyer Diana Adams, who advocates for the rights of so-called chosen families, presents a new text on the American origins of the "nuclear family" and its pitfalls from the perspective of legislation for LGBTQ+ communities, curators Katharina Koch and Sylvia Sadzinski report on a workshop at the Display gallery, and Czech psychotherapist Jan Kulhánek addresses the theme of absence in the family in his essay. ***** Graphics: Terezie Štindlová
