Hero of Our Time / Pro středně pokročilé studenty anglického jazyka B1+/B2 – Lermontov Michail (2022)

A special edition of the book "Hero of our Time" in English for intermediate students. The book contains 15 black-and-white illustrations and an English-Czech dictionary. The story "Hero of our Time" was written in the nineteenth century by the author Mikhail Lermontov. The original text has been adapted by a native English speaker and supplemented with 15 illustrations created by Czech illustrators. Our special edition of "Hero of our Time" was tested last year by students in the Czech Republic. Feedback from students was positive and had a very favorable impact on their English. It was shortened by Gerhard Symons. It is a time of war. A young army officer, Pechorin, has arrived in the Caucasus. Pechorin is a nobleman who is handsome, charming, and rich. He enjoys hunting wild pigs, 16-year-old Circassian princesses, and power. He is also selfish, violent, and rather bored with life. Whoever he meets is changed forever... You will follow him through five stories. You will read his private diary. You will penetrate the secrets of a human soul. And you will ask yourself, 'who is Pechorin?'
