Kara-Murza Sergej Georgijevič: Soviet Civilization 1 The book, set against the backdrop of the history of the USSR from the establishment of the 'Soviet regime' in 1905 to victory in World War II, describes the ideological foundations of the Soviet regime and its differences from the liberal regime – depicting it not as a Marxist project, but primarily as a narodnik project. For the Czechoslovak reader, reports on the social and economic foundations of the Soviet regime, such as the revival of communal society, are likely presented for the first time – and surprisingly resonate with the Czechoslovak national revival. The author explains the burden of the Soviet project through the lens of a liberalized intelligentsia, which managed to obscure the principles on which the commune stands – thereby discrediting the very image of this regime. In this regard, the author thoroughly analyzes Lenin's positions, for which he bears political responsibility. The author examines the individual components of the Soviet project and their development in detail, including their manifestation in social consciousness. He also presents the principles of power and authority in traditional society, as well as the mistakes of the then Soviet leadership, largely stemming from the fact that the vast majority of the leading figures did not understand this.
