The life story of the legendary commander was created based on a successful television documentary series. The duo of writers Otomar Dvořák and Jan Bauer set out to follow in the footsteps of Jan Žižka, left in the Czech landscape. They explored dozens of memorials and monuments, some pathetic and others ridiculous. They discovered what the sites of the famous battles look like today, explored castles, ruins, and historical towns. They spoke with locals, historians, castle keepers, museum curators, archaeologists, and chroniclers. They became acquainted with Žižka as a hero of folk tales and legends. This captivating description of places associated with Žižka, starting in Trocnov, his birthplace, and ending in Přibyslav, his place of death, intertwines with the narrative of his life. The dramatic elements of the captain's story are enhanced by fictional novelistic inserts, thrilling stories that capture the most intense moments of Žižka's life. The book immerses readers in the atmosphere of the Hussite era with photographs of action scenes, prepared in collaboration with historical martial arts groups.
