The publication 'On a Bike Around Czechoslovakia within the Borders of the First Republic 1919 – 1938' is unique in many ways. First and foremost, the author meticulously and humorously maps the current state of places where Czech culture meets German, Austrian, Ukrainian, and Polish cultures. On a second level, the author seemingly disregards historical border changes and uniquely describes border life in the Slovak-Hungarian region and the so-called Subcarpathian Rus, which is now part of Ukraine, through the eyes of a pre-war Czechoslovak. For completeness, it should be noted that this excellent travelogue was created before the Russian aggression, so it depicts peaceful Subcarpathia with strong influences from pre-war Czechoslovakia. Finally, it is important to add that in the book we travel along the borders not only through words but also through more than three hundred color photographs.
