The essay New Conversations offers a deeper reflection and original insight into the key questions that life in contemporary society brings. Significant and esteemed authors examine the topic from the perspective of various scientific disciplines. What to believe? Orientation in society and everyday events, as well as relating to the world, also stems from the ability and opportunity to distinguish facts from opinions and falsehoods; to see the outlines of things and events clearly and to think critically about their content. In addition to reflecting on the world, one must also reflect on oneself, one's position within it, and then make decisions. Concepts such as truth and veracity have always been ambiguous, of course. However, even if we take the historical and current ambiguity of such critical concepts as a necessary starting point, the contemporary context in which one must decide and act is unsettling in so many areas and offers such layered and typologically diverse ambiguities that it becomes increasingly difficult to find some kind of 'fixed points' on which one's daily existence, opinion formation, and practical actions can rely.
