The Mask is a unique book that brings an unexplored theme to Czech sports literature. The stories of brave hockey pioneers. The stories of Dzurilla, Holeček, Crha, Nadrchal, and hundreds of other goalkeepers who played with fiberglass masks in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. The author, during nearly a decade of work, interviewed hundreds of witnesses from dozens of clubs from Bohemia, Moravia, Silesia, and Slovakia. He collected a colorful array of period photographs and archival materials, creating one of the most extensive historical publications on ice hockey.
