Beschreibung
This Czech-language volume of poetry, full of colour, has its own story. At the presentation of the author’s previous collection, Invisible Paintings, a young artist joked that the individual paintings could be made visible by having someone paint them one by one. There were exactly one hundred of these so-called “invisible” paintings, making the idea appealing but impossible—who would buy books by the kilo? Yet the suggestion carried those present into the visual world and the imagination of paintings, and the poet and painter agreed to evoke stories for individual shades of colour, she in verse and he in drawings. The result is this slender book. The opening poem awakens nature in spring with a big bang of colour. On the following pages, the shades appear one after another, each seeming to display its own feeling or experience and its own landscape, emerging from the half-light into which they must return in the final Twilight. But another big bang of colour is already preparing itself, briefly overcoming the grey haze; light brings hope.
