Škoda Motorsport – 120 let na závodních tratích – Dufek Petr (2021)

The publication Škoda Motorsport – 120 Years on the Race Tracks introduces readers to the history of the sporting activities of the Mladá Boleslav car manufacturer. Author Petr Dufek notes the beginnings with a single track under the Laurin & Klement brand, the rich harvest of successes before World War I, triumphs in long-distance rides at the end of the First Republic, and often remarkable constructions from the 1950s and 1960s. Of course, the era of the legendary Škoda 130 RS and its successors, the transition to front-wheel drive associated with the arrival of the Škoda Favorit, the ambitious WRC program, as well as the present, represented by rally modifications of the Fabia model, are not missing. In engaging profiles, those who sat behind the wheel are introduced – from motorcyclist Narcis Podsedníček to Jan Kopecký and other Škoda world champions from recent years. The author drew on extensive archival material and testimonies from witnesses while writing the book. He also gathered a remarkable collection of photographs, many of which have not been published before.
