The book presents short personal memories of Baťa salespeople who had the unique opportunity to work with Tomáš Baťa. Memories of Tomáš Baťa were initially published as part of the company newspaper. The book form was created only in 1944 thanks to Jan Knap, who collected the memories. Thus, it is an authentic period text. Only those who possessed not only business skills but also knowledge of psychology and ethics could become a Baťa salesperson. A salesperson was meant to be a personal friend to every customer. The opportunity to become a Baťa salesperson was perceived as a social prestige. The profession of a salesperson was demanding and brought various life situations, which were always heightened in the presence of the boss. Many memories agree that Tomáš Baťa was not just an authority for his salespeople but, above all, a role model. A role model of a person characterized by directness and openness. These memories are humorous and witty, showcasing situations that reflect Baťa's character and his business and human qualities. The book was reissued by the Tomáš Baťa Foundation on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the founding of the Baťa company (1894–2014). The slogan of Baťa salespeople: "Our customer – our lord!"
