It was first published in foreign languages abroad in the 1960s as a testament to the exceptional life story and legacy of Tomáš Baťa. The Czech edition was published only in the 1980s by the Škvorecký publishing house in Toronto. The first public edition in the Czech Republic was released this year, marking the 140th anniversary of Tomáš Baťa's birth.
