Beschreibung
LEOŠ ŠIMÁNEK and his wife Lenka have once again set off to their cottage in the Orlické Mountains for the fifth time, to share more travel experiences with his brother and sister-in-law, resulting in a new autobiographical travelogue. For several days, they reminisced about the wilderness of Canada and Alaska. This time, the expedition members achieved an unprecedented feat. They circumnavigated the Pacific coast of North America in inflatable boats, covering more than three and a half thousand kilometers. In addition, they made the first ascent of the glacial mountain Mount Queen Bess, the second highest in the Coast Mountains. The Šimánek family, along with their daughter and son, accompanied by two friends, were able to admire the beautiful coastal nature untouched by human hands, as well as the unique fauna and flora that do not exist anywhere else in the world, for three entire summer seasons. In the fjords cutting into the towering glacier-covered mountains, they observed numerous wild animals, including bears, seals, sea lions, orcas, and humpback whales. The local inhabitants, if they encountered any, were very kind and hospitable. The book is filled with completely unusual experiences, sometimes even dramatic, but fortunately always with a happy ending. The narrative is complemented by mostly unpublished photographs.
